Emergency Plumbing

Burst pipes, failed flexi hoses and sewage backing up. In a building the first calls are isolating it and telling management, and we will talk you through both.

Emergency call-outs

Hot Water

Gas, electric, heat pump and solar, repaired or replaced. Soft Sydney water means an anode or an element fails long before scale becomes the story.

Hot water repairs

Gas Fitting

Cooktops, heaters and gas lines connected, tested and certified before we leave, with the Certificate of Compliance handed over rather than promised.

Taps, Leaks & Burst Pipes

Dripping taps and hidden leaks located with equipment rather than guesswork, which matters when the ceiling below belongs to somebody else.

What a plumber costs in the Sydney CBD

Published figures are rare in this trade. These are 2026 Sydney entry numbers, set out so any quote you gather has a yardstick, ours included. That covers a van at the door and the market's hourly rate. Job-by-job figures sit on each service page.

01

Getting someone out: $0–$180

Nothing on anything booked through this site. Reach us another way and the standard Sydney attendance charge applies at the upper end.

02

The hourly rate you will be quoted elsewhere: $100–$150

The business-hours market rate, and what most quotes are quietly built from. We do not price that way, for the reason under these cards.

03

After hours, weekends and holidays: $180–$250

The trade's loading for nights, weekends and public holidays. We add none, which matters here because after-hours is sometimes the only window a building permits.

04

A typical emergency repair: $250–$700

One number for making a burst safe, clearing a line or isolating a gas fault, rather than a clock running while somebody waits for a service lift.

05

Your fixed price: agreed first

In writing before work begins, including what the job needs from the building. If that changes, nothing proceeds until you have approved the new figure.

The middle pair are the market's rates rather than ours, and they sit here deliberately. An hourly rate prices somebody's time, and in a building a good part of that time can be spent waiting for a lift. The work gets priced rather than the clock, so a building's processes do not quietly become your bill. What you approve is what you settle. Where you already know what you need, the real figures live on the blocked drains, pipe relining, burst pipes and leaks, hot water and gas fitting pages.

The difference between a plumber and a licensed plumber.

Anyone can call themselves a plumber. A licensed one carries a NSW licence number, real insurance, and the legal accountability that comes with both, so when a gas job is certified or a repair signed off, it actually means something.

NSW licensed, fully insured, and working inside city buildings constantly rather than occasionally. Australian Standards throughout, with a written lifetime workmanship warranty.

Plumbing in the Sydney CBD

In the CBD and the residential fringe around it, most properties sit inside buildings with a manager, a security system and a loading dock. Getting a tradesperson and their equipment to an apartment is a managed process rather than a matter of parking outside, and that shapes more of the work here than the plumbing does. Across the city and the fringe around it, a licensed local plumber is only minutes away, same-day and 24/7 for genuine emergencies.

Common plumbing problems we see in the Sydney CBD

  • You cannot just turn up. Most properties here sit inside buildings with a manager, a security system and a loading dock, so getting a tradesperson and equipment in is a managed process.
  • Hot water systems giving out. Soft Sydney water means a dead unit here is nearly always a spent anode or a failed element. Gas, electric, heat pump and solar, repaired or replaced within the building's constraints.
  • Ageing galvanised & earthenware pipe. Older homes in Darlinghurst, Haymarket and Elizabeth Bay still run on steel and clay pipe that rusts, roots and splits over time.
  • Gas fitting & compliance. Cooktops, heaters and gas lines in apartments, where supply, capacity and common property all have a say. Brought to standard and certified on the spot.
  • Lifts and docks get booked. Service lifts and loading docks are a real constraint on when a job can happen, and some buildings restrict when disruptive work is permitted at all.
  • Management is the first call, not the second. They can shut services, warn the apartments below and let us in on arrival, which in the first minute does more than the call to a plumber does.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're tied up right now, leave your details and we'll call you straight back as soon as possible.

Still have a question? Licensed plumber van servicing the Sydney CBD
How much does a plumber charge per hour in the Sydney CBD?

The Sydney band is $100 to $150 an hour, and in a building that quietly bills you for time spent waiting on a lift. We settle a figure for the whole job first, so the building's processes are our problem rather than a line on your invoice.

How fast can you get to me in the Sydney CBD?

For a genuine emergency we aim to be with you inside the hour across the city and the fringe. What decides the rest is how quickly we can be let in, which is worth sorting while we are on the way.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Any attendance or after-hours figure is named on the phone before anybody sets off. Booked through this site there is none.

How do I know you're a licensed plumber?

NSW Licence 368473C, checkable on the Fair Trading register in about a minute. Unlicensed plumbing is illegal in NSW and voids a home insurance claim, and in a building it is not only your risk. Ours prints on every quote.

My hot water system failed and it isn't that old. Why?

Soft water is why. Scale finishes tanks in hard-water regions and Sydney is not one. Here the sacrificial anode is consumed protecting the steel, then the tank starts corroding, or an element fails. Both are frequently repairable.

Why do you ask about building access before you ask about the plumbing?

Because in the city that is usually the binding constraint. Most properties here sit inside buildings with a manager, a security system and a loading dock, so getting a tradesperson and equipment to an apartment is a managed process rather than a matter of parking outside. Service lifts and docks get booked, some buildings restrict when disruptive work may happen, and access to risers and meter rooms is controlled. None of that is unreasonable. It just means the plumbing is frequently the easy part.

Do you work on heritage and conservation-area homes?

There is no single building type across the city, and that is rather the point. What the properties here have in common is not their age or construction, it is that almost all of them sit inside a managed building. That shared characteristic shapes the work more than any architectural one does.

There is water coming in right now. What should I do first?

Isolate it if you can, then tell building management, then ring us. That order matters in the city more than it does in a house. Management can shut services, warn the apartments below and start their own process, and they can also let us in when we arrive rather than leaving somebody standing in a lobby. Doing those two things in the first minute frequently does more for the outcome than the call to a plumber does.

What areas around the Sydney CBD do you cover?

The whole the Sydney CBD LGA and every suburb around it: Haymarket, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Haymarket, Darlinghurst, Darlinghurst and more.

Hot water systems we service and replace

Hot water brings us out more than anything else, and these are the makes behind it. Continuous flow through a great deal of the newer stock, with electric storage where a tank was designed into the apartment. Repairing and replacing hot water systems is most of what we do here, and we are straight about what each job costs and the age at which a unit stops being worth fixing.

We service and replace these systems as an independent licensed plumber. We are not an agent for, or endorsed by, any of these manufacturers.
